Journey by train was really a great thing for me. One winter vacation I traveled by train to my uncle’s house in Joypurhat. I saved the night to Journey by train accordingly I had booked advance tickets online for Panchagarh Express, a North Bengal train. As the train was supposed to leave at 11:30 pm, I entered the Kamalapur railway station in Dhaka by 11:00. Entering the railway station, I read on the screen that the name of the train is given on the screen, the possible departure time is given as usual at 11.30 pm but the platform number is given. I started waiting for the train to leave.
Finally the train left at 2 am. As it was the last train from North Bengal, this train left a little late. I found my seat by the window as usual. I was feeling an atmosphere in the dead of night when I crossed the Joydevpur railway station. But sometimes I was enjoying the beauty of the insect light. A cold wind was blowing outside.
Almost all the windows are closed but I keep them open. After crossing the Yamuna bridge, the train stopped for a while, some hawkers were selling hot fried potatoes, as I was very hungry at 4.30 pm, I also bought fried potatoes from the side. Then I finished eating like a monster.
As our train entered Natore railway station at 6 am, once again the hawkers of Natore’s famous rasgolla, I excitedly took one kg of Natore’s famous rasgolla. On the way from Natore to Santar railway station, I saw through the window of the train that the trees were collecting sap from palm trees. Then I remembered the palm juice food of my childhood, I miss them a lot in the city life.
At 7.30 am the train entered Santahar railway station. I saw an old woman making steamed pita near the window. I called and bought some steamed pita from the train.
Ever since crossing the Yamuna Bridge, the intensity of winter has started to increase, I can feel it in my bones. I reached Jaipurhat railway station at exactly 9 am. After getting down from the railway station, I saw my cousin Mahmud waiting for me. Railway station is only 20 minutes walk from my uncle’s house.
Conclusion: I thoroughly enjoyed Journey by train from Kamalapur to Jaipurhat during the winter holidays. However, I made the night special for the train journey.
